We believe in building constellations. Each of us has the potential to be the balance between two opposing forces: immense outward pressure from internal combustion and the inward pull of gravity against outer energies. We can be a bit of cosmic glue.
For some years now, Igneus has partnered with Yan Er Lu Arts and FAR-West, among others, lending resources to improve communications between communities that value the human condition.
Yan Er Lu is dedicated to artistic communication between China, the United States, and beyond. We appreciate their dedication to clear and beautiful promotion of artists whose work cannot be contained on one continent. Most recently, YL covered the opening of Maps of No Return, featuring the art of creator He Gong at Sophia Grace gallery in Ferndale, Washington, US. He Gong’s vision of humanity, history, and capitalism is truly global in its scope and worthy of a global stage.
Sophia Grace Gallery furthered the constellation by hosting an ekphrastic writing weekend—inviting poets to write among the art, share at our open mic, and enjoy a wine-tasting social hour catered by Leader Block Trattoria & Bar.
Igneus Press donates book layout software and services to FAR-West, a nonprofit organization focused on preserving and promoting Folk in all its global forms. Folk is music of the people, and carries tradition and history through times that might not be particularly welcome. Like poetry, Folk music bears witness and tells the real story for future generations.
FAR-West operates solely through volunteers and donations. The organization offers scholarships to help disadvantaged people attend their annual conference. This year’s conference is October 9-12 in Vancouver, Washington – right in our neighborhood!
We urge you to go into your community and seek out partnerships. You have personal resources you can lend to strengthen connections in your neighborhood, your hometown, and by keeping in touch with us, globally. Let us know what you find out there – we’ll put the kettle on.
